Taking Positions
on The Issues
Businesses rarely take public positions
on political issues. They don't want to offend
or alienate any particular point of view and
thus jeopardize profits. Does that mean that
most businesses are apolitical? Not a chance.
This is easy to see by looking at which
companies donate to political campaigns, political
action committees (PACs), and industry or
other associations that have lobbyists. Most
large businesses do, either directly or indirectly.
We are a small business. It's rare for
a small business to stick their neck out and
take a position on important issues of the
day. We think that is wrong. The issues are
too important - the stakes are too high for
all of us in this society.
We don't expect all of our clients, nor
do we expect all of our employees to agree
with our positions. What we do hope, is that,
by putting our positions out there, we remind
us all that these issues are important and
everything is to be gained by promoting discussion,
searching for the truth, and taking action
to help when necessary.
On this site, we sponsor, a "Top
Issues" page where you can read about
a few important topics that need current attention.
Of course there are MANY more issues that
we could mention. For the sake of keeping
it manageable, we have focused on just a few.
